Growing up in a working-class area of Dublin, Ireland, James Kinch witnessed firsthand the impact of limited access to education. He saw his parents struggle with illiteracy and endeavored to find pathways to expansive learning opportunities. Thanks to a hard-earned scholarship, James became the first member of his family to graduate from university.
For James, who knows the life-changing benefits of education, working with a similarly-minded company was important. “The mission of Udemy to democratize learning is deeply personal to me,” says James. As an Enterprise Account Executive in the EMEA region, James helps large organizations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa develop workplace learning programs.
Though he admits to struggling with imposter syndrome over the years, his experience traveling the world in the name of education and sharing a table with inspirational leaders has helped James recognize that he secured a seat at that table himself through his resilience and determination to learn.
“Udemy has unlocked potential that I didn’t realize I had until it was unlocked,” James says. “I’m really proud to work at a company that is invested in their mission and their people. I wanted to work somewhere where I felt like I was contributing to a bigger cause, rather than just making money.”
