Bryce Johnson

From $40K to $170K

Quadrupling your salary in a few years may sound too good to be true, but that’s exactly what Bryce Johnson did (with a little help from a Udemy course).

When he graduated college, Bryce had plans to go to law school. But the amount of potential debt led him to explore other career paths.

Bryce started out in IT sales but quickly found himself interested in learning more about the tech he was selling. That’s when some of the engineers Bryce worked with encouraged him to learn coding. His intro: Colt Steele’s Web Developer Bootcamp course on Udemy.

Bryce worked hard, spending hours every night after work learning how to code. He learned JavaScript, Python, and AWS Cloud, eventually earning himself a technical position in the government consulting space.

He continued to hone his craft and build confidence which paid off big time. When he decided he was ready to put his resume out there, he landed a full-stack developer position that took his salary to another level.

Bryce didn’t stop there though. While his salary afforded him a very comfortable lifestyle, he was still searching for the right fit.

“These roles allowed me to take risks on things that I really loved doing,” Bryce recalls. “I wasn’t working long hours so I played video games and created content after work. Eventually, it took off.”

Bryce recently pivoted to become a full-time Web3 gamer, streamer, and content creator. While he faces new challenges, it’s something he absolutely loves to do – and the best part is that he didn’t take a pay cut to do it either.

“It all started with a $10 Udemy course,” Bryce explains. “People think you need to spend all this money when half the time it’s just being able to put in enough time to see some results.”
