Meet Udemy’s 2017 Interns, Part 1
We are excited to welcome a new cohort of Udemy interns to spend the summer with us. Without further ado, corporate marketing intern Maggie Troedson, who’s guest blogging today, introduces us to the first batch (there are a lot of interns this year). You’ll meet the rest, including our interns in Dublin and Ankara, in future posts.
Ahsan Zahid, Engineering
St. Mary’s College of California
NorCal native Ahsan received his BS in Mathematics in May. When he’s not working on front-end frameworks, Ahsan teaches AP Computer Science to students and works on coding side projects, most likely to the tune of his guilty pleasure: K-pop.
Amanda Lister, Finance
Loyola University Chicago
Working on VAT compliance analysis for our finance team, Amanda is thrilled to be back in the Bay after a long and windy winter in Chicago. While Amanda doubles as a Pilates instructor when she’s not at Udemy HQ, she also plans to enjoy the California sunshine by hiking, boating, and brunching in all of San Francisco’s best spots.
Derek Tsoi, Analytics
Before he heads home to Hong Kong for five weeks, Derek joins Udemy’s analytics team amidst his studies in Business and Education. He has yet to plan out his time in San Francisco, but like Nayeli, hopes to cross the Golden Gate Bridge and indulge in peanut butter ice cream at Ghirardelli.
Gozi Uzoma, Operations
University of Chicago
Gozi is tackling the Udemy’s initiative to make meetings more efficient and productive while on our Operations team during her summer break from working toward her MBA. A native to Massachusetts, she prioritizes surfing in the Bay on her SF bucket list, followed closely by getting one of “those corny photos hugging a redwood tree;” I’m almost positive that translates to exploring Muir Woods.
Harsha Gavarna, Udemy For Business
Harsha is helping the Udemy for Business team with a marketing strategy this summer. Born and bred in Hyderabad, India, he is spending his summer away from pursuing his MBA exploring SF’s food scene, with the intention of hiking and rock climbing it all off while on a weekend trip in Yosemite.
Iman Rana, International/Affiliate
University of Southern California, International Relations
With her freshly acquired international relations knowledge, Iman joins Udemy after graduating from USC in May. After three weeks of commuting to the office from the East Bay, she fantasizes about a Udemy course titled, “How To Parallel Park Without Embarrassing Yourself.”
Jason Heath, Legal
University of California, Davis
With one more year left in law school at UC Davis, Jason hopes a new Udemy course is published on “How To Pass the California Bar Exam in Fifteen Minutes.” He usually has the “Moana” soundtrack playing in his headphones at his desk as he helps Udemy get into compliance with new EU data privacy laws.
Kevin Kuo, Customer Experience
University of Washington, Business Administration
Kevin is focusing on all things community-related at Udemy this summer, including our active Facebook groups for instructors. Outside the office, he looks forward to catching up with local friends, going to movies, hiking, making boba runs, and visiting Great America. He’s also building his own website and says his dream Udemy course would be “Mastering Common Card Games 101.”
