Second Annual Udemy LIVE Begins Tomorrow!

There’s an electricity in the air that can only mean one thing: Udemy LIVE!

Our second annual instructor event kicks off July 28 and runs through the weekend here in San Francisco. As we learned at our inaugural Udemy LIVE, nothing can match the experience of bringing this group together in person. Many (if not most) Udemy instructors work independently to create their courses and teach their students around the world. They may interact with each other regularly online to trade tips and tricks, but it’s truly magical to feel the energy when they get into a room together face to face.

This year we’re taking it up a notch. Nearly 200 hard-working and accomplished Udemy instructors will be traveling to SF from as far away as Vietnam, New Zealand, Japan, Brazil, Jordan, and India, just to name a few.

So, what are some of the highlights we’re super-excited for? For starters, two impressive keynote speakers will take to the Udemy LIVE stage to share their wisdom with us.

Danielle LaPorte is everywhere these days. She’s an author, entrepreneur, and inspirational speaker who focuses on self-improvement and goal-setting, and she’s been named to Oprah Winfrey’s SuperSoul 100 list, along with change-makers like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Maria Shriver, and Tony Robbins, for being someone who is using her voice and humanity to help others rise up. On her website Danielle says, “I believe everything is a matter of the heart.” That certainly is true of teaching and learning, and Danielle is a champion of both. Her Udemy course, “Fire Starter Sessions Video Workshop,” was published earlier this year.

Chris Guillebeau is an author and world traveler who helps others master what he calls the Art of Non-Conformity. He writes about personal development and life planning and, like all Udemy instructors, he’s a huge fan of having a side hustle. In fact, he hosts a podcast on that very topic that gets downloaded two million times every month! Among Chris’s other claims to fame is his amazing feat of visiting every country in the world before his 35th birthday.

Of course, we need to break up two days of solid learning with a little fun too. Our Saturday night gala will feature entertainer Justin Flom (in photo below) wowing the audience with his unique brand of magic. According to his website, Justin has “cracked the code on doing close-up magic on giant stages,” even performing card tricks for a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden. We’ll see if he can amaze and astound a savvy crowd of online teachers.

Interspersed with those headliners will be workshops and sessions by Udemy instructors and employees, and plenty of opportunities to get to know each other and chat at leisure—not through a computer screen.

How do we know it’s gonna be great? Because the Udemy community is great! We’ll have the video to show for it afterward, so watch this space!
