Udemy is looking for a Senior Corporate Counsel to join our legal team at our headquarters in San Francisco. You’ll play an integral role in our marketing and intellectual property efforts while working closely with the rest of the legal team. We’re looking for someone who can help us maintain our earnestly authentic culture while collaborating with different teams to handle fast-paced projects with flexibility, patience, and poise. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Provide front-line legal support for all consumer and business marketing and promotional initiatives
- Counsel marketing and corporate communications teams to ensure compliance with global marketing and consumer protection laws and regulations
- Advise on intellectual property matters, including issues related to trademarks, copyrights, and DMCA safe harbor compliance
- Oversee Udemy’s trademark portfolio and support brand updates and usage guidelines
- Establish positive relationships company-wide through trusted advising, knowledge sharing, and training
- Collaborate with legal team members in drafting contract provisions related to marketing and intellectual property
- Maintain an ongoing understanding of developments in marketing and intellectual property laws, regulations, and enforcement activities
- Manage outside counsel on marketing and intellectual property matters domestically and internationally
We’re excited about you because you have:
- JD with admission to California Bar in good standing (or registration to practice in-house in California)
- 5+ years’ relevant experience in marketing and intellectual property law, preferably in an in-house environment
- Experience advising on marketing, intellectual property, and consumer protection laws and regulations
Great if you have, but not required:
- Experience with a global marketplace platform serving both content creators and consumers, such as YouTube, eBay, Etsy, etc.
- Experience with privacy laws
